I’m alive…aliiiiive!

Gorgeous sunset over the Pacific Ocean. I miss it!

2018 has been a crazy freakin’ year for me, so although I’m a little ashamed at how long it’s been since I updated the ole blog, I won’t be too hard on myself. Here’s a quick update:

New Job Like Whoa

I left my old job at the end of February and started my shiny new remote job at the beginning of March. I’m now Director of Marketing at Hungry for Happiness, and it has been a crazy whirlwind of content creation, learning allll the things, helping to run a business, being super grateful I no longer have an insane commute, but also going more stir crazy than I anticipated. I’m actually now on my first real break since starting – I’m rounding out a bit of a long weekend that was sooo needed.

California Dreamin’

I was able to travel out to California in April for work. Since the rest of the team is on the west coast, we gathered in San Diego for a few days for a Team Mastermind, and it was legit. My god, I love the Pacific Ocean. I can’t even. It calls to me in a way that is both a little creepy but also indicative of my soul home, yanno what I mean? I can’t wait to live out there. And I so will. It’s calling, and soon I’mma answer.

Unexpected Oral Surgery for the Fail

The Universe is kind of a dick, and I say that in a super affectionate, bro fist pump kind of way. It figures the first time I ever need to do a major dental (or medical) procedure was AFTER I left my normal 9-5 job and went on individual insurance, which pretty much covers nothing. I don’t want to go into the details, and I’m still trying to surrender to all of the chaos (and the $5K out of pocket bill ::dies::). Needless to say, I’ve been in a hiding a bit since June and will continue to do so through November, until everything is (hopefully) done.

A Little Closer to Being an Actual Screenwriter

Writing Partner and I 110% finished our comedy script, finally. Annnd we may or may not have a professional screenwriter who is our new mentor slash fake!manager. The wisdom he’s bestowed upon us has been frickin’ incredible, and he’s the nicest guy in the world. It’s been so awsome getting to know him. We left our latest (READ: FINAL) draft with him, and we’re waiting to see if he’ll be willing to pass it along to some of his actual facts Hollywood connections. Fingers crossed like whooooa.

Dusting Off the Ole Novel

Speaking of writing, my creative muse has returned and in addition to screenwriting (and daily writing for work!), I’ve dusted off one of my novel ideas and I’ve been working on that. It was fun to re-read a story I haven’t looked at in a while and come up with ways to make it better. I also feel like the Universe was validating that this is the project I should work on for myself right now, because I had two days worth of ideas and fixes and stuff just flowing in to my brain non-stop. It was awesome. I’m a little more than halfway through the manuscript, and I hope to be finished and have it in pitching order by the holidays. Heeee.

Annnd that’s the gist of how 2018 has been treating me. Lots going on, lots more to accomplish, and lots to look forward to.

Love it Pam!!!! You sure have had a crazy year. It’s never easy to “get your brave on” but you did. And as you always could, you made me laugh.
